Series consists of bulletins modeled after the publication, The Kansas City Schools, that were first issued in Jan 1949. The EPSB Annual Report 1949 refers to the new publication as a bulletin. This series begins with the second issue in Mar 1949. With the exception of 1949 and 1955, two bulletins were printed each school year, one in the fall and one in the winter. Each issue included a message from the Superintendent and information about the school district. The final bulletin was issued in Feb 1961 after which it was removed from the budget at the Board’s request.

75th Anniversary of Edmonton School District No. 7

Item is a file of information pertaining to Edmonton Public Schools’ 75th Anniversary. Reference is made to a display set up in the Hudson’s Bay Company Department Store during the 1960 Education Week. Included are two booklets about the history of Edmonton Public Schools.

Item is a memorandum from Alma Webster, Library Supervisor, to T. D. Thorson, Supervisor Administrative Staffing. It includes a chart which shows the number of school libraries, the number of school librarians, the central support staff, the central instructional staff, and the number of in-service sessions in Edmonton Public Schools for the years 1962-63 to 1971-72.

School Based Budget : Pilot Project Files

These files were created by Alan E. Parry, System Planner, whose position reported to the Superintendent & Secretary Treasurer at the time of the pilot project. Series consists of files pertaining to the development of budget decentralizing known as School Based Budget. The files and responsibility for School Based Budget moved with Parry when he transferred to Associate Superintendent Planning & Development Services in 1979-80. By 1980-81 School Based Budget was implemented district-wide.

Community School : Concept and Development

Item consists of three files documenting the development of Community Schools within Edmonton Public Schools. File number one contains Community School concept reference material, chiefly photocopied articles from Jan 1971. File number two (Nov 1979-Feb 1980) examines Community Education Development Centres in North America and includes the job description of the EPS Community School Liaison position. The final file contains information from Mar to May 1980 used by the Steering Committee of the Community School Facility Task Force and includes the Community School Facility Survey.
