1975-76 Guidelines for Staff Utilization

Item is a booklet presenting information and guidelines intended to assist school administration and staff within Edmonton Public Schools. It contains information on Personnel, Administrative Services, and Curriculum. Item consists of photocopied pages which were held together by a staple.

Immigrants and Schooling

Item pertains to the education of the children of new immigrants from Central Europe particularly Ruthenians and Ukrainians. It includes articles, handbooks, addresses, House of Commons Debates and reports from 1895-1934. Item is an educational kit used by students taking Education Foundations 430 at the University of Alberta.

Progressive Education

Item pertains to the theory and methods of Enterprise Education. It includes criticisms of Enterprise Education and reflections of teachers who taught it. Enterprise Education is based on the philosophy of the Progressive Education Association. The information in the kit is from 1917-1970, predominantly 1929-1946. Item is an educational kit used by students taking Education Foundations 430 at the University of Alberta.

Included in this item are the test manual, a list of slide numbers and their correlating test questions, and three plastic sheets of slides. The original box and slide carousel, 84.47.6-10 are missing.

It outlines the procedures and documents to be used by the schools to provide information for the Pupil Records System. The handbook pertains to the Pupil Records System, the Student Registration System, the Student Scheduling System and the Progress Reporting Sub-System. This handbook replaces a previous one.

Through the completion of optical scanning forms, schools provided information about students to be entered in the Pupil Record System. Information Systems Branch Data Processing Handbook for Edmonton Public Schools

Item describes the information that schools provided to track Student Registration, Enrolment Confirmation, Home Room Attendance, Student Scheduling, Class Reports, Junior and Senior High Progress Reports, and Academic History Records. Schools used Input Reports and the Information Systems Branch used Output Reports. Information was provided by schools on optical scanning forms and entered onto the computer by the Information Systems Branch. This handbook replaces a previous one.

Nursery Rhyme Cards

Item is a set of 24 flashcards. Each flashcard has a short nursery rhyme with a coloured illustration depicting the nursery rhyme. Questions about the nursery rhyme and accompanying illustration are on verso. Nursery rhymes were used as a literature resource to teach primary reading to students.

Basketball Fundamentals / M. L. Van Vliet and A. E. Henderson

Item is a manuscript mimeographed and distributed by the Department of Education to the participants of the Basketball Coaching School. Within the back cover is the published booklet entitled Rules and Regulations. It pertains to the Western Ontario Secondary Schools' Association and inter-school competition. Dr. Van Vliet was associated with the University of Alberta School of Physical Education. A. E. Henderson was a teacher and principal with Edmonton Public Schools.

Item is a booklet to be used in the financial management of each school within Edmonton Public Schools. It is divided into Financial Planning Information, Budget Document, School Organization and Operation, and Staffing. Resource allocation falls under Financial Planning Information. It also includes sections entitled Underlying Considerations and Special Emphases for 1981-82. - Transferred to Archives and Museum from the Centre for Education in Feb 1985.
