Directory of Pupils

Series consists of a single sheet for every class, in every school, per school year. Early years list boys and girls on separate sheets. High Schools are missing from 1964-65. Forms record school, date, teacher, students, each student’s address, birth date, grade, religion and residency status. Information was used by the finance/revenue area to calculate the annual education grant submission to Alberta Education. The lists then served as a directory of students, for the district, for the school year.

Superintendent's Monthly Reports

Series contains reports given by the Edmonton Public Schools Superintendent to the Board of Trustees pertaining to the administration of Edmonton Public Schools. These reports present information, enquiries and recommendations. This series also contains reports and information presented to the Superintendent by committees, school officials and outside agencies. The subject matter in the reports varies, but most information relates to expenditures and budget. The Superintendents responsible for the reports are James McCaig (1906-1913), W.L. Richardson (Acting Nov-Dec 1913), W.G. Carpenter (1914-1923), George A. McKee (1924-1940) and Ross S. Sheppard (1940-1955).

Superintendent's Bulletin

Item is a weekly bulletin that was established in Jan 1957 for distribution to all staff members of Edmonton Public Schools. The purpose was to incorporate in one Bulletin most of the notices, memos and directives that formerly came from various offices and departments at different times during the week. This Bulletin was issued from the Superintendent's Office and scheduled to arrive in the schools on Friday. A variety of enclosures attached to the bulletins.

Superintendent and Associate Superintendents’ Meetings

Series consists of agenda packages for the Superintendent and Associate Superintendents’ regular committee meetings. The function of this committee was agenda planning and processing of Board reports in conjunction with the Superintendent's Executive Council (SEC) and the Agenda Planning Committee (APC). Packages contain an agenda with attachments that include reports and minutes from previous meetings. This committee is also known as SAS.

File pertains to awards given at H.A. Gray School. It includes invitations to and programs of Awards Ceremonies, list of students receiving awards, memorandums to teachers and principals from awards committees, sample awards, and informatino from Student Assessment and Promotion.

Item is a magazine presenting ideas and exercises for teachers to use in grades I to VIII. It also contains articles by experts pertaining to teaching.

The Edmonton Public Schools

Series consists of bulletins modeled after the publication, The Kansas City Schools, that were first issued in Jan 1949. The EPSB Annual Report 1949 refers to the new publication as a bulletin. This series begins with the second issue in Mar 1949. With the exception of 1949 and 1955, two bulletins were printed each school year, one in the fall and one in the winter. Each issue included a message from the Superintendent and information about the school district. The final bulletin was issued in Feb 1961 after which it was removed from the budget at the Board’s request.

1975-76 Guidelines for Staff Utilization

Item is a booklet presenting information and guidelines intended to assist school administration and staff within Edmonton Public Schools. It contains information on Personnel, Administrative Services, and Curriculum. Item consists of photocopied pages which were held together by a staple.
