Mill Woods Campus Site Functional Plan

Item is a plan which identifies the specific location of facilities and landscape elements to be developed on the Mill Woods Campus Site. This was to be a site of integrated and attached school and recreation facilities. Diagrams of possible configurations are included. Also included are Edmonton Public Schools curriculum requirements for playing fields and information about community characteristics.

Item is a six volume report coordinated by a Council of Education Ministers in co-operation with the Federal Government. Item is a coil-bound plan detailing recommendations for school and core portable development for the 1980-1983 period. Core portables are structures attached to the main school building and are usually built in groups of 4, 6 or 8. Schools used Input Reports and the Information Systems Branch used Output Reports. Information was provided by schools on optical scanning forms and entered onto the computer by the Information Systems Branch. This handbook replaces a previous one.

L.Y. Cairns Vocational School Equipment Budget

Item is divided into four parts (a-d). (a) budget which lists equipment needed for each room, price of each item and total for each room. (b) memorandum that explains the list does not include music equipment, one unassigned vocational area and teaching aids such as maps and globes. It also recommends that the list of equipment be put out to tender. (c) site plan, main floor plan, and second floor plan. (d) Equipment Budget Breakdown by room. It includes the total equipment for vocational and academic budgets, and the total installation cost broken down into academic, vocational and labor budgets.

The series is arranged into three sub-series: 84.51.3 Policy Development : Survey of Principals, 84.51.4-7 Policy Development : Advisory Committee which contains agenda, minutes, memoranda and the policies and regulations the committee has agreed to, 84.51.8 Policy Development : Project Booklets and Draft Policies which consists of Advisory Committee notes and a draft policy manual.

Relieving Teachers

Item is a document pertaining to the formula used to calculate the amount of time principals should be in the classroom and the use of relieving teachers to take over their classroom work. It lists the schools, their principals, and the amount of time that a relieving teacher would have to provide in 1927-1928 compared to 1926-1927. It appears to be written by the Superintendent of Schools.

New Organization

Item is a list of schools. It includes junior-senior high schools, three-year senior high schools, intermediate schools, and elementary schools with intermediate units. The names of the staff members within each school are included. The item is the result of the district's newly organized junior and senior high classes following the new 6-3-3 grade divisions which began during the 1936-1937 school year.

Item is a newspaper. Some international and national items are included but it is mainly concerned with local news. Of note is an article stating that J. St. G. Jellett has retired from the store business at Clover Bar. St. George Jellett was the School Board Secretary-Treasurer 1893-1908.

Item is a newspaper covering local news, with some international and national items. Three stories are of note. The first is the Edmonton School closing for the summer on May 31st so the teacher, Mr. Martin, could meet his arriving family in Calgary. Second, is the voting on the creation of East Edmonton School District. Third, is the promotion examinations held in the public school on May 26, 27. The names of the children are included as are the arithmetic examination questions for standards four and five.
