Named after Ross Sheppard who was Superintendent of Edmonton Public Schools from 1940 to 1955. Sheppard retired from Edmonton Public Schools in 1955. Additions were added to the school in 1958, 1962, 1967 and 2019.

Item transferred to Archives and Museum from Ross Sheppard School in May 1985.
Scope and content
Item contains background information about depth-electives written in 1970 and depth-elective course outlines prepared by Ross Sheppard staff for 1971-72. Depth-electives are in-depth studies of a selected aspect of the English Curriculum.
